I thought today I would show you a peek into my scrapbook album. I’ve seen a big interest in scrapbooking lately (something I mentioned briefly in my Project Life post), certainly in the blogging world and on twitter. I couldn’t be more pleased actually, it’s always been a hobby that I’ve loved since I was a teenager and to see it gaining in popularity makes me excited. I think that’s because, for a long time, scrapbooking has always been seen as an older persons hobby. Like knitting or crochet (also hobbies I enjoy), it’s only in recent years that it’s become ‘trendy’ and has become a pastime that’s now likely to be enjoyed by younger people too. I think the outlook on scrapbooking has changed, and I’m also seeing a lot more people write about it more openly – that they’ve been doing it for years, too. There’s quite a lot of vocal interest on the subject on twitter, so I thought I’d join in and show you some photos of my scrapbook as it stands so far.

I started this scrapbook around June time last year – when I first got interested in Project Life thanks to my Mum. It’s a mixture of both project life wallets and standard 12 x 12” layouts. This style suits me most – I enjoy creating 12 x 12s because I think there’s a lot more freedom in creating the layout and creativity can be higher. Having said that, I love Project Life too. The grid style is really useful if you want to include a lot of photos, and the ease and speed of PL is the biggest selling point. This year, I’ve started creating monthly spreads with the PL kit, picking out various photos from the month that I’ve taken either with my SLR or my iPhone, and then adding a few journaling cards noting any particular events or thoughts.

I’ve taken quite a few photos of the layouts I’ve created in the last year or so, but certainly not all of them! I think if I did, we'd be here all day, so I've just picked out my favourite parts. There are layouts that aren’t finished – usually things I go back to or journaling I’ve not yet decided on. I hope they provide you with a bit of inspiration and encourage you to either get your scrapbooking kit out, or to start this as a new hobby. As always, pop any questions below and please leave links if you’ve shared any of your scrapbooking on your blogs, too.

If you liked this post, please let me know and I'll share more scrapbooking here on the blog :)
